'Paradigm (1)(2)(3)(4)' are part of an on-going series of individual installations, each consisting of a unique, custom-made wooden showcase that contains several white sculptures. All sculptures are created by the artist on the computer and then produced in 3D by a machine. The sculptural objects represent scaled (both enlarged and reduced) buildings, characters with body extensions, natural elements and scientific objects. A variety of concepts from different realms are placed on an equal footing, different elements such as puzzles, benign and malignant body cells, architectural buildings and figures are in this way made to become part of the same universe. The work makes obvious references to presentations in old natural history museums, as well as to rarity cabinets of the Renaissance period. In this way, each work speaks about the acute topicality of our technology-dominated environment, as well as our secular-scientific frameworks.
