The sculpture Treehouse consists of a large bare tree topped by a tree hut cobbled together from all kinds of different materials. The hut can be reached via steps and ladders affixed to the trunk. The tree stands on a small, rocky spit of land, in the middle of a reflecting lake. A small rowing boat is moored to a wooden jetty on the bank of the peninsula. Treehouse plays on our romantic longing to escape the pressures of everyday life and to retreat in splendid isolation to an idyllic place in nature. The work also appeals to our inner child, the child that loves to create adventures and build his own hideaways.
