‘Lisah’, ‘Stéphanie’, ‘Anthony’ and ‘Romeo’, large watercolour paintings, are the first four of a new body of works. This series portrays men and women of different backgrounds and ages in a relaxed, sitting or lying position. They look the spectator directly in the eye. Due to the large dimensions of the works the characters are perceived as life-size, which the artist hopes creates a great directness. Although they all clearly find themselves in the calm of an interior, the artist improvised dreamy landscapes around them in the background. It seems that these additions are an extension of their reflective mood.
