‘Fable (Owl)’ shows us the familiar mythical creature found in countless oral traditions. The owl's symbolism is twofold: it can represent wisdom, insight, and mysticism, as well as mischief and death. Owls are associated with wisdom because of their night vision and their ability to see and hear things thatothers cannot, as seen with Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom. Conversely, in some cultures, they were seen as bringers of misfortune and were a symbol of magic, darkness and the underworld, often as a companion of witches or as an omen of impending death.
