4 Rijkscollecties & Hans Op de Beeck
27 January 2024 - 6 May 2024
Kunsthal KAdE, Amersfoort, NL
The CollectieCentrum Nederland (CC NL) in Amersfoort will open in 2021. This building of no less than 31,500 m2 houses the collections of Het Nederlands Openluchtmuseum, Paleis Het Loo, the Rijksmuseum and the Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed. A selection of these works 'in storage' will soon be on display together with objects by the Belgian artist Hans Op de Beeck (Turnhout 1969).
He is known for his monochromatic gray sculptures, large installations, drawings and videos. In these, he raises subjects such as human perception and the beauty of "the object. Hans Op de Beeck shows the viewer non-existent but recognizable places, moments and extras that seem to have been taken from actual daily life, and in doing so tries to capture the tragicomic absurdity of our existence in images. Based on various themes, Op de Beeck's works will be shown, along with works from CC NL that tie in with them. The works of art and objects from the four national collections offer an extra layer in the various staging with their stories.
