'Extension (2)' is a monochrome, matte black interpretation of a life-sized office, bursting at the seams with a huge pile of technological equipment, a labyrinthine configuration of replicated, highly simplified computers, monitors, external hard disks, photocopy machines, scanners, modems and routers, cameras, digital keyboards, etc. It evokes the ridiculously excessive, technological island of a nerd, a computer addict. The entire monstrosity is crisscrossed with kilometres of black electrical wires and network cables, and is illuminated by several dim desk lamps. In the half-darkened space, the installation resembles the almost organic, shadowy silhouette of a beast with tentacles. The work is a portrait of an era, visualising the disembodiment of mankind in a biotope of his own creation: one where he can lead a parallel, virtual life in which the concepts of time, space, distance and body have become extremely abstract.
